Not doing a lot!

I haven't done much today. Made it to the grocery store, and dropped off mail at the P.O. Just one of those days when I wished I could go to bed. Last night I did play with Picasa. Used their new Picnik to make a picture of Kandi in a bubble. I think this is a great photo editing free software!

Just Chillin!

My trip to Ft.Worth yesterday really wore me out. All I did today was make some business phone calls, call in my prescription renewals and rest. Not exactly what I had planned, but guess I need the rest.
http://rvingquartzsite.com/?p=397 hope this link works. It has more information on the distemper breakout in Quartzsite. I would make sure my dogs had all their shots. Also, I had been told there is a fungus that lies at the roots of some of the plants, it your dog is one that likes to dig, I would keep close eye on them. Mine doesn't seem to dig.
I am enjoying the cooler temps. It was 40 this morning. Blanket weather!
I wanted to make maps of my up and coming trip, leg by leg to post on my blog. It seems I have forgotten how to do it. I use Streets and Trips. I know the map can be saved in Picasa but I am having a "senior" moment. Any body?

Running down the road!!

I made the 140 mile round trip to Ft.Worth,TX today. I don't know why that trip makes me so tired, but it does. I went to get my mammogram, and of course did a little shopping. I ate at Captain D's for fish. Haven't done that in years, it was good and I enjoyed it. I am truly getting old. The traffic is really getting to me, as does, loud people. I guess I have stayed by my self too much. Kandi does bark every now and then, but it doesn't bother me too much. But, trying to eat with people talking loudly, and even singing? I felt like yelling shut the f up. I need to get out more!!

Fixed!!

Jason's Mobile RV Service came about 12:00 noon. Took him about an hour to fix the spring that was hanging down. Seems the connector broke, not the spring. All that spring does is keep the electric cables to that room up while operating the slide out room! Even Jason said it was not a very good design. Then he aired up my tires, and fixed the 12 volt plug that I messed up earlier trying to air up my tires. It had knocked out the fuse that is behind the plug. Waiting for him, I cleaned out the front bay. So, I am a little further along in moving. Now, I have doctor appointments, so I can't move until the first of next week. Running a little behind time, but I feel I am making headway!

What's That????

Double Trouble

Trying to get ready to move, take my rig to have the bearings re-packed Got my slide out rooms in, and tried to air up the tires. My new 12 volt extension cord is not long enough! Looked at the rooms to make sure they were all the way in, and I found this spring hanging from the small slide out. I am not able to get under it, don't know if I could fix it or not. Called my trusty mobile RV repair man to come help! He can air up my tires too. So, once again I am on hold.

Watching the Storms

I haven't really done anything of value today. Just watching the storms as they roar across Texas, hoping they will miss us here in Central Texas.
I made a big pot of potato soup. I put a little ham in for seasoning. It turned out very good, I just don't know how I will eat all of it. Thinking about freezing some.
Talked to my friend that lives in north Texas, she missed the storms too!
Everyone in Texas is excited about the Texas Rangers winning over the NY team. I like baseball, but really don't watch it on TV.
After the storms, it has gotten a lot cooler! Makes me think about the upcoming holidays. I have spent so many alone. I really dread them. Seems it just gets worse with the passing of every year. I have a lot of good memories, but just how long are memories supposed to last?

Quartzsite

I feel a little better today. Still planing on going to Quartzsite this winter. If my plans go without any hitches I should be in Quartzsite the last of December. I may change that, my plans are written in jello! I just did not want to be alone on Christmas, or Thanksgiving for that matter. I hope to be in Verde Valley,AZ for Thanksgiving, at the Thousand Trails park, I have to be out a week, and then will go back for two weeks. If I find somewhere else I want to spend Christmas, then I might change that! I have been know to change my mind!

To Clarify

First I should clarify, the pictures on the last two post were taken on a trip I made in 2006. I am still sitting here in my space at Lake Whitney. I have some that I took in 2008, if I can find them I will post them.

I have had big time sinus problems, my eye swelling, and sinus cavities swollen. I know partly it is due to the Mountain Cedar. So yesterday I closed up all the windows and roof vents and turned the a/c on. I also took a sinus/allergy pill, and I feel better today. Not completely over it, but better.

Sad story about our fellow bloggers. You just never know when you will be "called home". It is a shock, but I have had several great loses in the past years. Ones, I didn't think I would ever get over. But, here I am. Bless them and their families.

Quartzsite

I have been going to and through Quartzsite, AZ for many years. My husband and I traveled through there in the summer, not a single soul did you see. Then in the winter the town swells to thousands of RV'rs. They just find a place to their like and pull in and set up camp. There is a BLM area called the LTVA, long term visitor area. There are several places you may stay for up to 14 days for free. The area called La Posa is a long term area and costs $180.00 for the season. The season is Sept. to April. You can purchase a 14 day permit for $40.00. This area has a dump and water. It is also close to the "big tent" and some can walk to the activities. I have stayed at several of the 14 day free areas with no problems. It is hard packed sand and you won't get stuck. The Pit Stop in town has LP, and purified water. I took my own jugs, some people use "bladder" on top of their vehicle, or collapsible 5 gal container. I just saved my gallon milk jugs, and I also bought bottle water to drink. Do not drink any other water! The stuff you get for your fresh water tank is for washing dishes, bathing etc. There are plenty of service stations for gas/diesel. Several very good restaurants. Every one needs to go to the Naked Bookseller! He is something else. He is NAKED, a very smart man. Very nice, and he has a wonderful book store with some videos, and tapes for sale. He also buys books. Wonderful Mexican restaurant in town, also Sweet Darleens, close to the bookseller. Then you can go up to Parker,AZ about 35 miles to the Blue Water Casino. They have a good senior buffet, and pretty good slots too! Parker has a Safeway with a great bakery, dollar store and several other discount stores, plus a new Wal Mart, not a super Wal Mart, but a Wal Mart nonetheless. And in Quartzsite, on Kuehn Rd my friends now have a Discount Grocery store. Shown in the pictures is her former business, Western Wall Art. I think she still does have some art and jewelry.

Emerald Cove RV Resort

I am a member of Resorts Parks International. You must be a member of Thousand Trails in order to join RPI. One winter in my travels I stayed at Emerald Cove RV Resort. It is located in Earp,Ca, which is just across the Colorado River from Parker Az. It is a narrow winding road going into the park. Not a problem though. The park is right on the Colorado River. They were "promoting" their park by advertising $49.95 for a week stay. So I had to wait in line to check in. The guard shack is right in the center of the road, check in on one side, check out on the other. Very tight security. While waiting I noticed the guard shack building roof stuck out over the road and it looked very LOW. My rig is 13 ft and 1 inch tall. I was really wondering if I could fit under it! It looked like someone before me did not make it, for the edge of the roof was damaged! When it was my turn, I edged up very careful, watching the roof line, I just fit! Check in was not easy. I had reservations, but had to verify my number, then pay in advance. I asked for a pull through site, they advertised they had them in their book. I was told, Thousand Trails members were not allowed to park on the water front, or pull through. I was really unhappy, and told the guard I would then have to have help as I am somewhat disabled. I asked if there was one site that I could "pull through" into the one in front of it? That way I wouldn't have to back in. He was very nice when he figured out what I was talking about, jumped in his golf cart, took me right to the site, pulled thru and I pulled right in after him. I got parked, and got my electric hooked up, even though it was Jan. it was hot. Rested before I finished unhooking, decided to look at all the "mound" of paper work he had given me. NO, TV, NO cell phone! They had cable you could rent for $2.50 per day. So I watched some video tapes I had brought with me! I stayed seven days. I went back to Parker, and up and down the river. Beautiful drive. I also made the drive to Quartzsite, about 35 miles from Parker. I enjoyed the park after I got over the shock of no TV or Cell. Met some nice people while there also. So all and all I good stay, even tho I was totally alone!

Afghan

This is what I do for a hobby. I have made several beautiful afghans though the years and I have this one, and one more that is a "broomstick" lace one. I have given them away, and I bet not one person still has it! My arthritis is getting to me and I don't know how many more of these large ones I can manage! I still do small projects, and I have a granny square afghan in progress now.

My eye seems better today. I do think it is due to all the pollen in the air. Mountain Cedar count is outta sight. I have some severe allergies to mountain cedar, household dust, mold, etc.
The swelling is down some, maybe the rain that is predicted for Tuesday will help!

Vision Problems

I am having some vision problems with my left eye. It is swollen, I think maybe due to sinus. I may not be able to write to my blog for several days. Thanks!

Wah Day

Monday is wash day. I am still preparing for winter weather, soon I hope. It was about 85 today, I thought HOT! I keep hearing about the "cold" front coming in, I think they mean it will be 80 instead of 85! Boring blog today. I am still looking at my maps and discount RV directory. I did make an appointment to get my yearly mammogram. So guess I will be around until the 29th of Oct. in any case. I had thought of skipping it this year, but my friend in Az has been battling breast cancer, so I thought, better not! I think every woman should get one.

Lazy Day

It's been another lazy day. I really didn't do anything. Watched my Church programs on TV. Poured over my maps for awhile. I still can't decide if I want to go to the Rio Grande Valley, or to New Mexico. both have a lot of good points, and places I haven't seen yet. It does get cold in Deming. It is rare that it get to freezing in the valley. I am slow in making my decision. Guess that is due to old age! Looking at all the maps, and Resorts Parks Directory made me sleepy, so I took a nap. That was about the end of my day.

Chores

Beautiful day today. I took my trash down to the can at the end of my drive. Dumped and back flushed my black tank. Seems like the skeeters likes this kind a weather too! I sprayed good with Deep Woods, and then managed to take Kandi for a short walk. The park was having the chili cook off this week end. I didn't go down, couldn't do chili with temps in the high 80's. I enjoy having the windows and door open, getting a little "fresh air".
Talked on the phone, free minutes ya know. Not at real busy day, but enjoyable.

Flu Shot

I made it to my doctor's office today, got my Flu Shot! It has H1N1 in it also. I hope it doesn't make me sick. The shots have never bothered me. Some of my friends don't get them, because they say it makes them sick. Well, I don't want to take any chances. Also had my blood work done. Getting ready for a trip?
I am still trying, I need to make up my mind if I want to go to the Valley, south Texas, or go west? I keep thinking of how nice it is in the winter in the Valley, Harlingen to be exact. I do like being close to the beach, and the fresh fruit is wonderful and cheap!!! But I like the west also. A lot of my single friends go to Quartzsite, and I was looking forward to seeing them again. Decisions, decisions.

Wally World

Made it to Wally World today. Nice crisp day, good little drive of 14 miles to Hillsboro. I noticed while shopping, there was not many shoppers. I managed to get a parking place right in front. This is not the first time I have found the store without a lot of shoppers. I noticed the shelves were not fully stocked either. Wonder what is up? Maybe just restocking for the fall. Just seems to me like all the grocery's are going up every time that happens. This store has diesel and with your credit card or Wal Mart gift card you get 3 cents off. So I filled up my tank at $2.82 gal. Terrible! And the news keeps saying gas prices are falling!

Ear Ache

I haven't had a ear ache since I was a kid, but I have been having one lately. Last night my ear hurt enough to keep me awake. I think using the "ear bud" for hands free cell, has something to do with it. Did not sleep, and was very tired, so once again I didn't make it to the doctors office. It may be sinus related as behind my ear hurts and the bridge of my nose. I guess I really am allergic to cold weather!
I did manage to defrost my refrigerator, and make some business calls. I am going to Wal Mart in Hillsboro tomorrow, if it hare lips every cow in Texas!

Cancelled Apointments

I had a early morning doctor appointment to get my flu shot, and my blood work done. I didn't sleep good last night, for worrying about not hearing the alarm. I did hear it and got up on time, got dress, and discovered I need a jacket for the morning cold. I made it to the parking lot, when my cell phone rang. I pulled over, and answered it. Sure enough it was the doctors office, cancelling my appointment. Seems the doctor was sick. I am really glad they called me, it is a 30 mile drive, one way. I would have been upset to drive all that way and find he isn't there! So I made another appointment and went back to bed! The rest of the day was spent doing some laundry, getting my "fall" wardrobe together. I am still planning to make a trip. You must keep on planning!

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta started today without me! I wanted so bad to go. I just could not justify paying $30.00 per night to boondock. I read on my SOLO's e-mail that one fellow member was there, boondocking at a casino, for free! That is what I was looking for all along. I was not sure I could do the walking, and I just wanted to "see" what it was all about. Guess what, today there was a special on PBS about the Balloon Fiesta. I don't think it was today's, but it was wonderful. If I am a position next year to go, I certainly will be there!
I have been trying to wash a few winter items as we are getting some cool weather. I dug out my fuzzy house coat and washed and dried it, and sure enough I used it tonight. Even Kandi curled up on the tail end of it. She liked it too!
