A few days at my daughter's in my rig

Cherry and I loaded up as much as we could and headed for her place in Hillsboro,TX. Really hot, but the air in the rig works great.

The electric "throne" not crazy about it
 Came with washer/dryer
Computer desk at rear, dinning table, four chairs that have seats that lift up and storage underneath
 Shower with angle tub.

 My bedroom
Closet with built in shoe rack, wire shelves on one end.
Downtown area, very depressed little town.
Used to be the "hub" of Johnson County
Oldest drug store in Texas?
Back to the apartment, unload the truck. Really hot and tired, time for a nap!

Pictures of my new rig

Looking toward the rear of my kitchen
Shows the flat screen TV (surround sound) fireplace just under, ice maker next to that( U Line) with pantry above, next to refrigerator , some of new rugs over the hardwood part of the floor.

Didn't get a lot done yesterday, got the water connected. It is a weird setup. The ice maker  water line is on the opposite side from the water hook up, requiring two hoses, and a splitter, going through one filter, that is connected to the water pressure gauge. I am going to change it and put a separate water filter on each side. Then it still has a water filter in the kitchen. More than I could handle in one day. Thanks to my daughter for hooking it up, which required getting in the bushes to do so.
Hope to get more done soon, and more pictures!

Dog Tired

My doctor visit was OK, but I have certainly been slowed down. Maybe it is just "old age". I just don't have the energy I used to have. Work hard one day, take two days to "rest". My packing is going very slow. I am trying to take pictures and post things I want to sell on Craigslist. It is a slow process. e-Bay also has classified ads for free, so I then post on there. Meanwhile, I am trying to go through old papers, magazines etc. Of course that means time to read and make sure you are not discarding something you may need. Since I do genealogy, I ran across some files I just had to keep!
On that subject, what do you do with all that research? My friend has birth certificates for her grandparents and no one wants them. Do you just burn all that research? I only have one daughter now, and she already has a copy of our ancestors and their history. I did find an article today on one of my relatives that served in the American Revolution. I could apply for DAR, but why bother now at my age?
Meanwhile, my daughter is caring for my rig. Wiping down the cabinets, and putting paper in them. So-- when I do get there , they are ready for me to fill with my junk. This rig is a lot smaller than my Big Sky, so I am really having to purge!
Well, back to work.

Mothers Day

Mothers Day Roses from my Daughter, I think the color is called Sterling. Beautiful, and they smell good too!
We had a nice day, Cherry also brought me a slew of gifts, rugs for the rig, and a CAKE. We made a drive to Ft.Worth to the cemetery and put flowers on my youngest daughter's grave, and my mother and grandmothers. Seems I have more family there, than on this earth anymore. It was a nice day and I took Kandi with us. She doesn't behave very well, I think she needs more socializing. We were a tad hungry on the way back, and because of Kandi couldn't go into a restaurant, so we stopped at a Sonic drive in. Kandi loves to share my "fries" with me! It was a little crowded because I had the back seat full of "stuff" to take to the rig.
Yesterday, the 15th was the Vet. day.
Kandi needed her shots, and test for heart worms, plus she has been having trouble with her ears. Poodles have hair in their ear canals and it should be the groomers job to pull it out. Their ears get a yeast infection in their ears if it isn't groomed properly. Evidently my groomer didn't do a very good job.  I have really never liked the way she groomed Kandi, but she would come and help me get her out of the truck, and bring her back to the truck for me. The trip to the vet. really got me down. As I said, she is not very well behaved, goes nuts when she sees other dogs, and has never seen a cat! Of course everyone talking to her and saying oh how sweet, gets her going too. The vet. is a large place and they take horses, and cattle. It was quite busy but I was waited on very quickly. I really liked the Vet. she was very nice to me, getting me a soft chair to sit in while I waited. So,her shots, blood work, cleaning her ears out, meds. for the ears, and heart worm meds. for six months, lightened my billfold by $151.00! I was in shock, but she is good for a year, unless something else happens. Heart worm prevention is a Must here in Texas, just about year round. And I use Frontline to prevent fleas, and ticks. This is my third Poodle, and I used to be able to do the grooming, but it is getting too hard for me to stand that long. Well, after all she IS my baby!
Tomorrow, my doctor.

Moving stuff from storage bldg. to rv

Yesterday I made a trip to my storage bldg. in Whitney,TX. The road construction on hwy 933 seems to be completed, at last! Will be an easy drive to the Thousand Trails park in Whitney.
By the time I arrived, it was lunch time, so I went to the new McDonald's and had a small hamburger, fries, and drink. I sat in the back ,close to the restrooms. I noticed several people plugged in and on their laptops. Guess they have WiFi , isn't that great. I think McDonald's was pretty smart providing WiFi, which will draw more customers. It is such a small town it was surprising.
I worked several hours in my storage bldg.,sorting stuff to take to the rig, and sweeping up. The couple two doors down had all their "stuff" out in front, thus blocking me from driving up close to my bldg. Turns out they were RV'r too, and also going back into a motorhome! She went to the store and brought me a cold bottle of water. Very nice. I had water, and tea in the truck, but by then it sure wasn't cold.
After I got loaded, I went to the little Beauty Shop in town, for a senior hair cut @$10.00. Always get a good cut there. Then on to Family Dollar store. picked up some dog food, and treats. Finally made it to my Daughter's house in Hillsboro, where she unloaded the truck for me! I was just too tired by then. Cherry also fed me some home made Lasagna. I didn't get back to Cleburne until 8:30 and is was getting dark. Still didn't get any pictures. We looked and looked for the switch to turn on the water pump. Never could find it and I was too tired to think. When all else fails-----read the manual!

Tom Tom Who ?????

Sunday was the big day! My daughter ,Cherry and I headed to Grapevine,Texas to pick up my new to me home. Grapevine is not but about 54 miles from Cleburne,Texas, but--- the roads in and around Grapevine are under construction, and several closed altogether. So I took a short cut though the country, and Cherry using her Tom Tom was the navigator. Every thing went well, got to the place the Montana was parked, met the owner, and his wife (one owner by the way) got hitched up with no problem. It IS just like riding a bicycle, comes right back to you! So, just as we are about to pull out, the owner Lyn says to me, you can go this way and turn around at the turn around and come back this direction, missing a lot of construction. Huh? Well I decided to try it. So off we go, Tom Tom yelling, turn left, turn right! Did not see any turn around, ended back up in construction, but heading the right way, so I thought. NO, Tom Tom yelling, turn left. How can I turn left, no road? So keep going, Tom Tom says turn right at next road, OK, did that. I tell Cherry, I know this is not right. I can Feel we are headed the wrong way. No, Tom Tom say go, such and such miles, turn left. So I keep going. Finally I SEE DFW airport. Now I KNOW I am going the wrong way, yet Tom Tom insists on keeping straight. I SEE the Dallas skyline. Now, I am a bred and born Ft.Worth girl, and I KNOW where Dallas is, and it is NOT where I want to be. I tell Cherry to throw that Tom Tom out the window, or at least turn it off. But she doesn't and it is having a fit as I turn left, and head back whence I came. I told Cherry I think she was holding it upside down as it was giving me direct opposite directions.  Having been an RV'r for a lot of years, you just get a sense of direction. I knew I wanted to go west, not east. After a sight seeing tour of Dallas, and DFW for about the third time, we got back on the road I was meant to be on in the first place. I had a GPS at one time, couldn't hear it over the diesel, and couldn't see it for the glare, so I sold it for what I paid for it, and said good bye to GPS systems. But, lately I have been seeing them on HSN at a good price, with free for life time updates, and and thought about getting one. Well, that trip made my decision. Give me good ole paper maps anytime. We made it to Cherry's house, and she has a nice extra lot where I pulled in, unhooked, just like I knew what I was doing! What a stressful day, but it is home. I still didn't get any pictures of the inside. It is about an hour back to my apartment so I had to "hook em". I am happy to "own" my own little home, no more paying rent. In two and half years, what I pay for rent will pay for my rig. I am very happy about that!

My New to me Home

My Home! 2004 Montana.
I had a trying day yesterday and am totally whipped. I will post more on the Montana tomorrow, I will say it has a FIREPLCE!
